Need Suggestions: Should I spend my budget on a custom kitchen design or high-end appliances?
I’m finally pulling the trigger on a full kitchen remodel this year, but I’m stuck on a major decision regarding my budget. I have a decent amount set aside, but I can’t decide where it will be best spent.
I’m currently debating between two paths and would love your suggestions:
Option A: Go with high-end, name-brand appliances (like Wolf or Sub-Zero) but use standard "off-the-shelf" cabinets to save money.
Option B: Invest heavily in a professional custom kitchen design. This would mean tailored cabinetry, fixing my kitchen's awkward flow, and getting specialized storage (like deep spice drawers and a hidden pantry), but using mid-range appliances instead.
My kitchen is a bit of a weird shape, and I’m worried that if I don’t go the custom route, I’ll end up with a lot of "filler" space and wasted corners. However, I also care about the resale value of my home here in the US market.
I’d love to hear your thoughts:
If you were buying a house, would you be more impressed by a perfect custom kitchen design layout or by the brand of the stove?
Are there any specific "must-have" custom features you'd suggest I include if I go with Option B?
For those who have done a remodel recently, what’s the one thing you suggest I don't skimp on?
